Successful Ekal Fundraiser Gala in Vancouver

Canada’s first Ekal Vidyalaya fundraiser Gala that took place at the Royal King Palace in Surrey B.C. on December 1st, 2017 was a great success.  Thanks to the efforts of the Ekal Vancouver team, led by Dr. Arun Mehta (Chair) and Sheetal Gupta (Gala Coordinator), it was a sold out event with a packed venue. The stage performances were very entertaining, the decor was elegant, and the food was delicious.  The banquet hall was charged with complete enthusiasm. Local political leaders, business men and women, industrialists, professionals and the community at large supported the event. The event raised $108,000.  It will support the education of over 5,000 poor children in the remote villages of India.  Our sincere thanks to all those who opened up their hearts and wallets. The event was organized by Sheetal Gupta, a young lady running a business under the name Maharani Jewels in Vancouver. It is a message that the young people are ready and willing to take over the leadership. The Vancouver Gala has certainly raised the bar for Ekal Canada.

Parshotam Gupta,
President Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of Canada

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who opened up their hearts and wallets to generously support the event. Without the incredible support of the sponsors, vendors, and all 375 guests, the event could not have been possible. A very special thank you to Nitin Sharma of Royal King Palace, Harprit Jaswal of Always and Forever for providing her Event Planning, Sunny Purewal from Red Carpet for the beautiful decor, Jay Pannu for the videography and creation of a very touching video on Ekal Vidayalaya that was shown at the Gala, Ravneet Sran from Rouge Studio for the photography,  Shushma Datt for being the MC, Narinder Sachdev from Maharaja Catering for the desserts, and many many others.  Also a special mention to Zee TV, Spice Radio, Red FM and Dreamzz Radio for giving us immense media coverage.

People loved the entertainment from DJ Swift of Decibel Entertainment, Shiamak Dance Academy, Royal Academy of Bhangra, and singer Nishant Sharma. And the event would not have been possible without the help of dedicated team of volunteers – Rattan Garg, Kamal and Vikram Rishi,  Harjeet Dhaliwal, Mahesh Gupta, Rakesh and Seema Garg, Rajesh Acharya, Baljit Rana, and countless other volunteers who came together in support of Ekal. Also a special thanks to Subhash Chander, Secretary Ekal Canada and Poonam Chander for coming all the way from Toronto to support this cause. Their presence and guidance gave us immense confidence and encouragement.

Sheetal Gupta,
Gala Coordinator
